Should I bother GP re this ( as its such a faff at the moment)

Over a week ago I picked up a heavy bag and felt something “ pop” in the left side of my abdomen. It really hurt but pain went quicklyFor some reason an image of my ovary popped into my head!
Since then I’ve had pretty constant low level throbbing in that spot. No lump and doesn’t hurt to touch I can just feel it all the time. I would have thought a pulled muscle would have eased by now.
I don’t want to bother GP unnecessarily..but do you think I should? I’m early 50s , going through menopause and ten years ago diagnosed with small ovarian cysts which have never caused me any trouble.

I would. Do you have an e consult type thing available?

MrsGrindah · 09/11/2020 18:40

I do but it didn’t seem to be working when I looked at in on Friday. Will try again. I hate going to the drs , always feel like such a time waster and our practice is awful but I know this isn’t right. But I wouldn’t exactly say I’m in pain.

Could be a burst cyst, could be a hernia. Definitely best to get checked.

SpookyNoise · 09/11/2020 18:51

I’d probably leave it a bit longer to see if it got better by itself.

MrsGrindah · 09/11/2020 18:52

Aah. Good news :)

NameChanger3002 · 09/11/2020 19:10

Bet it's a hernia. Good job you have an appt.

MrsGrindah · 10/11/2020 17:55

Well the video appointment worked but I’m not entirely at ease. It’s a pulled muscle apparently.I had a really bad night of pain yesterday and it’s disrupting my bowels but he said that’s just normal. Hot water bottles and come back in a month.Don’t know how to feel really.

Second opinion. I've never known a pulled muscle cause a visual change. Is it painful on movement only, or do you get waves of pain at rest?

jessstan1 · 11/11/2020 02:33

My first thought was a pulled muscle. It will just get better.

housemdwaswrong · 11/11/2020 03:16

Oh sorry, no lump. I must stop commenting on posts when insomnia is rife. I think my brain is working but it's not.

Pulled muscle could be a safe ish bet then... at least nothing flagged up I suppose. A drag though :/

IKEA888 · 11/11/2020 03:49

I can't understand why a pulled muscle would cause bowel changes.
I am v sceptical of Gps though!
I'd give it anotjerbweek and ask for another opinion is no better

CharityPecksniff · 11/11/2020 09:03

Fully agree with IKEA888. Good luck OP.

Thanks everybody. Another uncomfortable night although a bit better today. I think I’ll give it a week and then actually go see a Dr ( hopefully before Xmas!) . I just think abdominal problems in women over 50 need a bit more investigation? He didn’t ask me about my periods or anything.
