Hello,
I broke my tibia and fibula 2/10 and had ORIF surgery to insert an intramedullary nail and close the wound on 3/10. I was kept in hospital for four nights and have been home since.
In my haste to get out of hospital I didn’t speak to anyone about the prognosis or timescale for when I might be able to drive / walk / be back to normal.
I can weight bare and have been trying to increase the distance I walk (using crutches), but I’m getting frustrated with the slow progress and I’m sure there’s other exercises I should be doing to increase the range of motion in my knee and ankle. I’ve not had any contact from the physio since I’ve been home.
I’m getting my surgical staples removed today at the GP, should I be asking them to refer me for physio?
My follow up at the hospital isn’t until 12th November and I’m worried about the impact waiting that long on my muscles.
I’m supposed to return to work (wfh) next week, but I still can’t sit up at the table for any length of time without pain. Most of my day is spent lounging on the sofa with my leg elevated.
Anyone else been in the same position and want to share your stories?
Thanks!
