AIBU to think my boobs have gone crazy - menopause?

Please please tell me this is within the normal range.

My left boob has developed a mind of its own over the last 15 months. This time last year I went to the Breast Clinic on the 2-week pathway as it was swollen, bigger than the other one, spotty (small red spots) and tender. The doctor hardly examined me and the radiologist was deeply unpleasant, telling me I was imagining it. She was a nasty old woman who spoke down to me despite my distress.

I went for a second opinion to Leeds where the breast clinic was like a zoo, total fob off was given, again the young junior doctor who saw me refused to accept the asymmetry. The consultant didn't bother coming to see me and I was fobbed onto a non-qualified woman who wittered on about Evening Primrose Oil. Not helpful.

The breast is now clearly, undeniably grossly swollen compared to the other one. I am 56 and it is not mastitis. I have carried on with the 3000 EPO per day recommended by the hospital to no avail. It hurts in itself and under the arm, shooting pains.

I have written to my GP to demand to be seen properly, I don't feel I have been properly evaluated at all. He is seeing me tomorrow morning.

Has anyone else had this? I can't find any reference to single breast swelling online.

Thanks in advance for replies. Please don't give me a hard time for criticising breast clinic staff, I have had a child with leukaemia and know a caring decent doctor when I see one, and one who does not care.

Sorry you are having these pains. No advice but bumping for you.

Glad your doctor can see you.

Make sure you remind him that your breast was never this size before in case he thinks you’re just silly and never noticed before you had one bigger than the other, normal, but recent swelling and pain isn’t the norm.

Omg this makes me so sad that women's health is STILL not being heard in a lot of situations. I think you need to get really busy assertive here ( I know easier said than done) Like pp said just keep reiterating that it has changed shape/size and is painful. Keep repeating when they try to take you off track. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted soon

Thanks Kettledoger x
