Some years I am more sensitive to side effects / reactions than others.

How are the reported levels of side effects this year?

I had it two weeks ago, as did my partner. She was fine; I confess I felt a bit warm, coldy and really wiped out for a few days. I was already fairly run down when I got it though. Anyway, all cleared up within the week. Still think it’s worth getting.

Torvean32 · 18/10/2020 00:25

I cant book until middle of November, but I will be getting it.
I had the flu once in my early 20s, (i was on Christmas holiday at my parent's home). Had i been living alone I'd have had to go into hospital.
.
Very happy to pay to not have that again.

InglouriousBasterd · 18/10/2020 00:33

Had mine Friday. Felt a bit hot and dizzy last night, fine all day today until my arm started throbbing. I suspect it will pass overnight. Better than I expected!

Summerdayshaze · 18/10/2020 00:47

Had mine on Thursday. Nothing at all.

JinglingHellsBells · 18/10/2020 08:06

YES! Last week. All fine other than a slightly sore arm for 24 hrs.

I have it every year.

DH had the over 65 version which is stronger and he felt a bit odd for 2-3 days.

BananaFlavouredPancakes · 18/10/2020 08:10

Yes. No ill effects this time. I had it once about 5 years ago and felt rough for a few days after.

whataballbag · 18/10/2020 08:28

I've had it. Felt a bit achey day after but nothing to write home about

AgnesNaismith · 18/10/2020 08:36

Had mine a month ago. I’m crap with injections. It stung more than usual going in, that may have been because I was telling the pharmacist that I’m crap with injections and he said ‘you’ll be fine’ before stabbing me in the arm. I almost fainted on the way out (standard) and lay down in the car eating a pack of glucose tablets until I recovered.

After that my arm didn’t hurt, slight pain in neck, little raised temp and headache for a couple of days, but nothing paracetamol didn’t fix.

LizzieSiddal · 18/10/2020 08:40

I had the raised, red, hot area at the ingestion site, for a few days. Apart from that absolutely fine.

Daughter, whose pregnant, her Dh, my Dh, in-laws and my mum all had it and all no issues at all. Hope yours goes well too!

LizzieSiddal · 18/10/2020 08:41

*injection site

VictoriaBun · 18/10/2020 08:43

Arm ached for a few hours the next day , but only mildly. Dh had no reactions . Was much better than some past ones.

bodgeitandscarper · 18/10/2020 08:43

I had mine last week with no issues at all. My daughter had hers plus the pneumonia jab at a drive through session. She fainted in the car on the way home, luckily I was driving! She went on to get a hot red swelling on her arm, which she couldn't move, and felt ill for about a week. No knowing if it was the flu or pneumonia jab which caused it though.

FippertyGibbett · 18/10/2020 08:43

No reactions. Just a slight bruised feeling at the site, which is to be expected when you’ve stuck a needle in a muscle.

Aragog · 18/10/2020 08:55

I had it about a month ago, as did 18y DD.
No side affect symptoms for either of us.

Last year my arm was swollen a lot and was very red and hot. This year was fine.

Ughmaybenot · 18/10/2020 08:57

Had it a couple of weeks ago, first time ever as I work for the nhs now. Slight sniffle which I’m not convinced I could put down to that anyway, and it only lasted a day or so. Apart from that, I feel tip-top

Londonnight · 18/10/2020 09:03

I had mine a couple of weeks ago. Sore arm and a red spot for a couple of days, but no other issues. My son also had his as well and had no side effects either

cobblers123 · 18/10/2020 09:05

I had mine yesterday morning. Arm was quite painful during the night, couldn't lay on it but seems less painful now.

Nurse told me there are no side effects. I had the over 65s vaccine.

SellFridges · 18/10/2020 09:08

Kids had the nasal spray and have been fine.

I had it about a month ago and had an achey arm, and basic cold/flu symptoms for a couple of days. It passed though.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 18/10/2020 09:11

I get one every year.

No side effects-like PP I didn't even feel like it happened.
My GP is doing a drive thru-drove up, arm out window-jab and home.
Really well done!

TeeBee · 18/10/2020 09:27

Had mine last week. Only an ISR, nothing else at all

adagio · 18/10/2020 09:36

Had it last week, sore arm for a few days, really really tired (bed at 9) a day or so later, and god-awful headache for 3 days. Feel slightly better today. Otherwise so far so good!

Trumpton · 18/10/2020 09:43

Over 65 version given last Monday absolutely no side effects at all . MIL (97) was also good .
Thursday I had pneumonia Jab . Punched arm feelin for one day that’s all .
Friday I had Herceptin ( jab in my leg ) . That’s a slow 5 minute injection .
I have one limb left if anyone can suggest anything Grin

DumplingsAndStew · 18/10/2020 09:59

Thank you all so much for your replies! Thats a really good sample of people. From the sound of it, it sounds like a good year. I will call and see if I can book tomorrow.

Thanks again Flowers

Vitamin D injection?

mycatlovesmenotyou · 18/10/2020 14:18

I had one yesterday and my arm is now very painful and I couldn't sleep on that side last night.

I haven't had the flu jab for 5 years after having a really bad reaction in my arm last time, but decided to this year because of CV.

My arm is aching today and I can't raise it very high or touch the site, but am hoping it will settle down. The doctor said to take antihistamines and pain killers if it happened again.

I did have flu a couple of years ago and it was horrendous.
