Warning picture of foot! What do I do about bruised sore swollen foot

So my clumsy self dropped a 2 litre bottle of water on my foot today and it is bruised and painful. Is it just ice and rest? I'm sorry for the picture of my ugly foot.

I looks ftom the bruising pattern like you might have broken one of small bones in the foot. Does it hurt to walk on or does it just hurt generally?
Definitely keep the foot up and well iced.

Can you take a photo to include more of the foot. How long after the injuy did this bruise appear. Is there any swelling or marking under the foot?

Looks ouch 😬

StillMedusa · 17/10/2020 00:26

Yes..might be broken but tbh there isn't a lot you can do for toes! I'd ice and keep it up!

PickAChew · 17/10/2020 00:30

Yes, Rice. And seek professional help if it deteriorates despite that.

Torvean32 · 17/10/2020 02:05

You need to rest it. Have your foot elevated. Then hold a bag of frozen peas against the foot. ( or similair). If you can take something like ibuprofen to ease swelling. If you cant weight bear, or if the swelling does not go down id see if you have a local minor injury unit, if not call 111.

IwishIwasyoda · 17/10/2020 02:14

Go to minor injuries. Its not always the case there's nothing to be done - and given the bruising / swelling best to check out if you get any pain standing on tiptoes..

DS had a hairline fracture of the toe - we had no idea initially as no swelling or bruising. Consultant sent us for an x-ray purely because of where the pain was and the fact he couldn't stand on tiptoes

Sorry I have really bad feet.

I'm not sure how long after as I tried to ignore it and didn't look till last night. Nothing that I can see under the foot. It hurts quite a bit but I have a very high pain threshold.

Oh and I have pain going up to the ankle too

doctorhamster · 17/10/2020 08:44

I think that needs an X-ray op. Take yourself off to a&e now before it fills up with Saturday sports injuries later!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 17/10/2020 08:46

Given the radiating pain, I'd consider minor injuries.

Btw you dont have "really bad feet" - that's just a normal foot!

Doingitaloneandproud · 17/10/2020 08:48

I'd go and get an X-ray, that looks painful! My finger bruised like that when it was broken. Best to get it checked out, even if they can't do anything they can tell you the things to avoid to help it heal properly if it's affecting your ankle too

SourMilkGhyll · 17/10/2020 09:08

If ibprofen was working well for the pain I'd probably just wait it out.
(But I have no medical qualifications)

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 17/10/2020 10:37

Waiting to be seen now. I decided to get it checked while (as someone pointed out) it's quiet. Only two others in here

Yep all good just badly bruised. Said the pain may get worse in 3-4 days but just rest it as much as possible, ice and painkillers.

Just thought I'd come back and prove my clumsiness. I've bloody only gone and dropped something on the same foot!!! Less bruising but more painful. BlushHmm
