I hurt my finger, but it is not broken: what can it be

In August I tried to kill a mosquito with a cloth and instead of only hitting the cloth against the wall, I slammed my index finger with full force against the wall. It hurt immensely and I had to put ice on it for about an hour to make the pain bearable. Since then, I´m not able any more to bend my finger fully (as my other index finger can) and the area around the first joint is sensitive. If I try to do the things I did before with that finger (like opening cans), I get a strong flash of pain.
I went to the doctor and had an x-ray, but the bones are not broken. For the doctor this was the end of his involvement it appears. I received a course of anti-inflammatories but it has done nothing to take the symptoms away. As it is now been two months, I wonder what else it can be if it is not the bones. Would you have a clue?

Tendon? Damaged nerve?

Dislocated? Hyperextended the tendon?

Ligament or tendon damage

Dislocation should have shown up on an X-ray. Sounds like it's probably ligament or tendon damage. I fell and bent my finger back and couldn't straighten it for weeks due to ligament damage. Try splinting it to your adjacent finger or go back to your GP.

Ligaments - is go back to your doctor and possibly ask for a referral to hand therapy (yes it's an actual department) at your local hospital.
