Hi
Just looking for someone to talk to. Been having a dull ache/burning sensation deep in my breast on/off for months. Think I felt a lump. Went to gp on 14th October @12pm she said she could feel thickening tissue/lump in the area I have the sensation. She said she’d ref me to the rapid access clinic. The referral was received by 3pm. I spoke to clerk and she confirmed it was an USC referral. I have an appointment on 26 November to have check/mammogram/ultrasound/biopsy etc on that day. I’ve not told anyone. I feel so tired all the time. Should I be worried?

littlebillie · 26/10/2020 17:10

I was referred my GP said 100% Brest cancer I was out and home in 30 minutes with all clear

JinglingHellsBells · 26/10/2020 17:14

@Amioverthinking19 So sorry. But that is a very long wait- can't they move it forward? it's supposed to be under the 2-week rule, not 4 weeks. Have you tried asking for it to be sooner?

keepondreaming · 26/10/2020 18:11

@Amioverthinking19 I agree with jingling you should try and get an earlier appointment. Not sure what USC is? But the 2ww should be adhered to for anything suspicious. I know some clinics are running a bit behind but even so, end of November is too long for you to wait mentally.

Remember that the majority of lumps are nothing to worry about Thanks

Standrewsschool · 26/10/2020 20:35

@Amioverthinking19

I agree, that’s sounds a long time. Under the ‘two week wait’, I think you need to be seen with two weeks, not six weeks. I Would ring the Med sec and see if you can get it moved sooner.

Katinthedoghouse · 26/10/2020 23:07

So pleased everybody so far has had non problematic results - just goes to show that the majority of issues are nothing to worry about. I totally agree about renaming the clinics to breast
issues, might save a lot of unnecessary angst.

Amioverthinking - my appointment took about the same time too. I had a bit of a head in the sand approach and just let it be especially as my GP said the clinic were delayed by at least a week when. In hindsight I should have phoned up asking for a cancellation or earlier date as 6 weeks was really too long. I’m a strong person but my nerves were shredded at the end. I think you should pick up the phone and call them. Odds are that you are going to be fine - but it would be better to know that sooner wouldn’t it ?

Amioverthinking19 · 26/10/2020 23:58

Thank you for all your comments and advice. I have rang them to ask if any cancellations come up before my appointment date that I'd be happy to take it. Did you tell anyone before going or did you wait until you'd been seen before telling them.

Vi37 · 27/10/2020 07:17

Hi, sorry for the late update, couldn't remember my mumsnet password! Well the consultant manually examined me and would have probably been happy to send me straight home, she couldn't find anything at all. I went for an ultrasound scan, even covered the armpit too and it was just all normal tissue. Phew. Thank you to everyone that asked about me. Hope everyone is doing ok? X

Yippee, another all-clear!

NMS90 · 27/10/2020 07:41

Hello ladies just wanted to thank you for all of the lovely positive updates on this thread. I actually lost my lovely mum this weekend to breast cancer after an 8 year battle.

I have been referred to the breast clinic as I have developed a red patch on one breast. It's odd as it doesn't hurt, isn't itchy, doesn't look like a rash etc. It has only been there for a couple of weeks but given my family history I went to the GP immediately. She basically said she didn't think it was likely to be anything serious but as she wasn't sure what it was she would refer me (which I was pleased about).

I am 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby and hoping that the clinic will say that it is just caused by hormonal changes but reading through this thread has been really helpful in calming me down a bit xx

Galwaygirl · 27/10/2020 08:41

Great news OP, good luck to all awaiting appointments

bostik · 27/10/2020 09:02

Wonderful news, OP, I was thinking of you yesterday. Good luck to everyone. x

Laura1609 · 27/10/2020 09:53

Brilliant news @Vi37, you must feel so relieved.

@NMS90 So sorry to hear about your mum, sending you love 💐 I’m glad the thread has offered you some comfort and I’m sure, as you say, it’s likely to be hormonal changes. Look after yourself and take it easy xx

JinglingHellsBells · 27/10/2020 12:06

So pleased you got the all-clear @Vi37 :)

Worriedsilly24 · 08/08/2021 19:07

I was just wondering if anyone has had ongoing breast pain for 16 months or more. I have had a mammogram ultrasound a year ago and all was thankfully clear. I still have the pain around my breast and behind my nipple. I was back at gp a few weeks ago for physical exam and all still gelt normal. I have tried numerous medications, physii, oestopath but still the pain is there with no diagnosis. I am so fed up with thinking about it all the time and it affecting my life.
Sorry for long post, so thank if you have read it 👍❤️

Seashellel · 13/09/2021 18:02

I know your comment was a long time ago but I’m hoping you may see this! Firstly I am so sorry to hear about your mum Flowers I hope you are doing ok.

But I wanted to ask about your red patch as I am in basically the exact situation you were - I am 16 weeks pregnant with a non itchy, non dry, red patch on one breast and have been referred to the breast clinic. My appointment is in 10 days and I’m struggling to cope with worry! Did yours turn out to be ok? If so what was it that caused it?

Thank you so much if you do reply xx
