Taking a seat in the waiting-waiting room. My appointment is Monday. Been twice before in last few years and they were both large cysts. Hoping it's the same again this time again. Can't help but worry though 😟

Vi37 · 15/10/2020 14:20

Officially sh*/$%^g myself now. Appointment is 26th oct at 8:50.

@Vi37 Good news. At least it’s early in the day so no sitting around waiting!

Vi37 · 15/10/2020 14:54

Good point 👍

More than 80% of lumps are harmless. I'd be very reassured by the nurses reaction. They can usually tell when it's just a cyst or fibroidenoma by the feel of it so it's really just a check up to make sure.

Don't worry about it. Stay positive.

Standrewsschool · 15/10/2020 19:10

My appointment is not until the afternoon Sad

Standrewsschool · 16/10/2020 08:25

Anyone else seeing breast cancer mentioned everywhere they look?

Got my Avon catalogue yesterday. I know they do support breast cancer but this issue they’re particularly promoting a lipstick to raise money.

Started reading ‘Cows’ by Dawn Porter, and breast cancer is mentioned in that as well. No mention on the book description I read of this. Don’t think I’ll be reading anymore of the book! Also breast cancer campaigns keep flashing up on my facebook feed. It’s not google-search related, because I’ve deliberately not searched for it.

Standrewsschool · 16/10/2020 08:28

@Katinthedighouse

Flowers for you (and anyone else) with your appointment today. Thinking of you.

Vi37 · 16/10/2020 08:51

Yep, standrewsschool, picked my prescription up from asda and the breast cancer logo/info was on the packet.

Gowiththeflow92 · 16/10/2020 17:35

Is it just me or can anyone else not leave the lump alone since noticing it 🤦‍♀️ I keep waking up hoping for some sort of miraculous miracle and its disappeared

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 16/10/2020 17:41

I had to go after finding a lump last year OP. Huge family history of cancer etc, vrry very stressful time. The staff were incredible, really supportive and my lump wasn't anything to worry about thankfully. Take one step at a time x

Standrewsschool · 16/10/2020 18:36

@ all Gowiththeflow92

My appointment is Thursday as well (in Kent).

It’s always in the back of my mind.

Katinthedoghouse · 16/10/2020 20:48

It’s been a traumatic afternoon but it’s good news.

The one plus about this Covid situation is that all the appointments seemed to be running to time.

I saw the consultant, and I’m not gonna lie, he said it didn’t look good news.

That set off a bit of an emotional rollercoaster then for the next 20 minutes having a mammogram and ultrasound and then the dr who did the ultrasound said it was a simple cyst, just as I had hoped. It was one big one surrounded by a couple of smaller ones. I opted to have it drained and watched 18mls of yellowy gunk being drained into a syringe whilst the ultrasound picture shrank. Amazing.

The dimpling or loss of fat seems to have improved almost straight away, and I’d say it’s 75% back to normal. And I’m happy with that. Apparently the cyst could kind of sit on the fatty tissue, distorting it ? Whatever, it looks and feels a whole lot better.

I’m just prone to lumpy, cyst-ie, saggy boobs. And that’s ok.

I hope this informative for anybody searching for information in the future.

Hope everybody with upcoming appointments takes some reassurance from this. And I hugely appreciate the support I’ve had from here. Thank you x

Standrewsschool · 16/10/2020 21:01

Yay!! Really pleased for you @Katinthedoghouse

Gowiththeflow92 · 16/10/2020 21:54

@Katinthedoghouse really happy for u glad it was nothing to worry about.

@standrewsschool ohh can support each other the day of. Mines in 10am in glasgow so glad its pretty early gets it out the way. Not aloud to bring anyone which is shitty I think and will make the wait long. The nurse on the phone said they would be looking to mammogram me first which I was shocked by as I am only 28 and doctor said it would be ultrasound but hey ho may aswell take all the test while they are getting given

keepondreaming · 17/10/2020 00:11

@Katinthedoghouse Yay, so glad all is ok for you!

One minute I just want Monday to be here and over with, the next I want the weekend to last as long as possible. Can't make my mind up one way or the other.

Hoping and praying we all get good results next weekThanks

tinselvestsparklepants · 18/10/2020 13:12

I went on my own to my last appointment. Ended up chatting to another lady in the waiting room and teaching her to knit! (they have a basket there so you can knit while you wait). A good atmosphere, everyone supporting each other. Her result was good too. Good health to everyone going in this week.

Standrewsschool · 18/10/2020 22:15

@keepondreaming - hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

Thank you @Standrewsschool Just sat having a cuppa before I leave to go to the clinic. Have to say I'm quite nervous and worried!

Gowiththeflow92 · 19/10/2020 08:59

Good luck today @keepindreaming

Redannie118 · 19/10/2020 11:34

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Katinthedoghouse · 19/10/2020 13:30

Thinking of you 💐

keepondreaming · 19/10/2020 13:59

I'm home after 4 hours in the clinic. And I'm so happy to report it was, as two years ago, cysts.

First of all had consultation and examination by Dr, then a mammogram and then an ultrasound. Back to another Dr who examined me again, looked at images and after explanation of what was going on, aspirated the two biggest ones. Apparently there are plenty more in there!

The staff were fabulous, took their time to explain everything clearly. The only worry was how many ladies (and two men) were in the waiting rooms for the clinic.

Whilst I am glad today was "just" cysts, each person I saw said never to assume and always go to GP.

Hopefully I've kicked the week off for us all to have nothing but good news! Good to luck to all those waiting ThanksThanks

I just had my appointment at breast clinic. Its just normal fatty breast tissue...that feels like a lump and only on one breast. Discharged now. Very relieved. Good luck x
