6 mo with a nasty cold - all advice very welcome

DS (6 months) has a cold: very snotty, coughing and sneezing, bright red nose and puffy eyes. He doesn't have a temperature so I haven't taken him to the GP yet as he seems in reasonable spirits, is still smiling plenty and playing with toys. I gave him some Calpol last night as he was really being bothered by his nose and obviously uncomfortable but I rather not just dose him up if there are other things I could try and his temp isn't up. His cough seems throaty rather than chesty.

Any suggestions? I've angled his cot a bit as I heard that's good but would welcome any other hints. (I just wish he could blow his nose, poor fella.)

buy a snot sucker (nasal aspirator) - very effective

olbas oil on a tissue in his cot
medised for night times (helps with breathing)
get a karvol plug in for his room
snuffle babe for his chest

am sure he will be ok soon

Thanks Ruby. Haven't heard of a snuffle babe, what is it? But that's heaps of help. I shall head out to Boots this morning. I know it's just a cold but, well, he's my PFB...

snuffle babe is a vapour rub - you can put it on their chest

I had imagined some special teddy that emitted special anti cold vapours or something. But a chest rub would be good.
