Rash suddenly appearing all over my body?

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 20:57

I'm waiting on a call back from NHS 111 but wondering if anyone had any ideas of what this rash could be? It's appeared all over my body in the last few hours (literally all over except my face).

I've taken an anti-histamine but that doesn't seem to have made a difference as it's only gotten worse? It's very itchy and I think my chest is getting tighter (but also think that might be my imagination playing tricks on me!)

Sorry, should add that's it's a very red, blotchy rash (no blisters or anything like that and nothing swollen).

A symptom of covid is a rash, not sure what it presents like though, but might be worth a google?

nancy75 · 06/10/2020 20:59

Have you googled COVID rash?

ExCwmbranDweller · 06/10/2020 21:01

COVID rashes

Other rashes are also available.

Harmarsuperstar · 06/10/2020 21:04

Is it blanching?

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 21:06

@ExCwmbranDweller Grin

I've not heard of a rash being a symptom of Coronavirus before? This has literally just appeared this afternoon so for coronavirus does it come on that quickly?

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 21:08

Yes, it's blanching - is that a good thing?

I think they are considering adding rash to the symptom list (along with everything else in the world which also seems to be a symptom!)

Happyspud · 06/10/2020 21:08

Is your breathing ok? You say tight chest but I wonder if it's an allergic reaction? If your mouth starts to feel weird or swells, id consider that.

Lougle · 06/10/2020 21:08

If your chest is getting tight, you need medical attention. If it's your mind playing tricks, you'll be safe. If it is actually your chest getting tighter, you'll be in the right place.

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 21:09

@ExCwmbranDweller urticarial rash is the closest to it from that website but it's not as bad as that looks although it is all over me!

nancy75 · 06/10/2020 21:09

Blanching is good

Aquamarine1029 · 06/10/2020 21:09

A sudden, inexplicable rash is definitely a covid symptom.

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 21:13

What a nightmare! I'll see what NHS111 say when they call! I think the right chest is my imagination as when I've been distracted by reading your posts / links, it hasn't felt tight.

OP posts:
BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 21:13

Tight chest, not right chest!

Of course, nobody can diagnose you over the internet but it sounds similar to urticaria. I had it badly a few years ago and over the counter anti-histamines did nothng to shift it - I needed higher strength stuff on prescription. I see from the link above that an urticaria-type rash can be associated with Covid.

ExCwmbranDweller · 06/10/2020 21:16

My son has had a urticarial rash come up very suddenly a few times in the past and we've never managed to pin down why Benone. It's that boring list of what could have changed? From washing powder and softener to food ingredients, one time with DS we think it was from being in a class where the teacher made food with an unusual type of flour - he didn't even touch it but it would have been in the air.

I posted the Covid rash link because it's one of the new crazy symptoms some people are having and it's always good to be aware just in case you were just off to meet someone who had chemo last week. Probably it will go down gradually over the next few days and forever be a mystery. Sorry if that's disappointing Grin

tiredbuthappytoday · 06/10/2020 21:23

I had similar once, a week after finishing antibiotics. They said it was an allergic reaction. I had no issues with breathing etc - if your chest/breathing etc worsens you need immediate medical attention

ScrapThatThen · 06/10/2020 21:24

Eaten anything high histamine?

Coldwinterahead1 · 06/10/2020 21:34

Have you used any new products?sounds like an allergic reaction

teta · 06/10/2020 21:41

Sounds like urticaria. My son had it after eating some American skittles once. Try taking some antihistamine tablets.
It doesn't sound like Covid.

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 21:53

111 have just called and said it sounds like an allergic reaction - no mention of COVID at all. The anti-histamines have made a difference and rash is nowhere near as bad now, so felt like I was wasting their time as I'd never have made the request for a call back (or even posted) if it had calmed down sooner!

Thanks anyway!

Hope you're ok today

BenoneBeauty · 07/10/2020 15:59

Thanks @IslandLulu - I feel fine although still have a faint rash on my arms!
