Should I be worried that im suddenly getting recurrent herpes outbreaks?

Im hoping for some advice as dont want to bother the gp unnecessarily.
3 years ago I was very ill with pleurisy and ended up in hospital. During this time I got my 1st outbreak of genital herpes which as hell on earth, I was covered. I tested positive for the hsv-1 strain and told that I was unlucky. I had been married 7 years and neither me or dh had ever had symptoms orally or genitally before but I was told it must have lay dormant and come out due to my low immune system
I had a couple of very minor outbreaks after but nothing for around 2 years

The last few months a few times a month I was having what I thought was thrush which would go in a few days. Around a month ago I got a mirror and realised that what I was experiencing was actually another herpes outbreaks and not thrush. Since then I have had it again and again, I barely seem to be getting a break of more than a few days. Im now on day 11 of my latest outbreak and despite taking 3 x acyclovir a day its spreading up my bum and this morning to my mouth (never had it there before).
Im feeling really down about it :-(
And more to the point worrying about why the hell this is happening?
Should I be worried?
Any advice will be welcome
Thank you

I don't think it's unneccesairy bothering your GP to ask them about this. It's not a cold that goes away on its own and it might need further looking into.

Call your GP!

I understand it can prevent and treat flare ups of herpes.
