DH lips turning blue

92 replies

GoBackToPartyCity · 02/10/2020 20:08

In the last week DH’s lips have turned blue. There’s been no ‘trigger’ for it. The first time we were having a drink at the pub and he’s just at work tonight.

Anyone had this before? He’s a relatively fit 35 year old with no known health problems.

P.s....I have told him to book a doctor’s appointment.

Covid - definitely get checked quickly as lack of oxygen is a symptom

Starlightexpress1 · 02/10/2020 23:31

Hope he’s ok!

@MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig

My DJ’s dentist rang today to confirm his appointment on Monday. He wasn’t in so she ran through a health check list with me. Amongst the questions concerning Covid-19 she asked me if his lips had gone blue. Your Dh needs to see a doctor now.
Your husbands dentist shoykd realky only do a questionnaire on the person themselves. As your husband coukd keep important medical things from you. Why did she as about blue lips. Ive seen the dentist a lot during lockdown and that wasn't asjed. Hope your husband is ok though

We bought an oximeter at the beginning of lockdown. For whatever reason, with Covid, SATs can go quite low before the person feels unwell, then they deteriorate rapidly.
I think it would be reasonable to go straight to A&E. It only takes a minute to check SATs.
Oximeters are not expensive and they are easily available.

It's called 'cyanosis'; your husband needs a medical check up.

RepeatSwan · 03/10/2020 04:35

As an aside, he might want to look into some help for the needle phobia because as he gets older, he will have more need to get things checked. Putting off tests really affects outcomes.

YukoandHiro · 03/10/2020 07:19

How did things go OP?

justasking111 · 03/10/2020 13:35

@GoBackToPartyCity hope things are ok.

@GoBackToPartyCity

How's DH Doing now?

GoBackToPartyCity · 04/10/2020 15:31

Sorry for not updating! DH absolutely fine. Clinician was not concerned in the slightest!

That's good, OP. Some of us are naturally just a bit on the blue side!

Janevaljane · 04/10/2020 16:42

Great! I wouldn't have bothered if he was otherwise well but probably best you did go.

Wheytaminute · 04/10/2020 17:08

Good news OP. It was worth getting checked out though.

waitrosetrollydolly · 04/10/2020 17:35

I was going to ask if he has a blue pen at work ? With a slightly chewed end ?? Glad it seems to be a non event !

HotToCold · 04/10/2020 18:16

Not bothered by blue lips?

Wow

MJMG2015 · 04/10/2020 19:19

Clinician?

Not interested in blue lips on more than one occasion, for no apparent reason?
Weird.
I think he should see his GP.

Glad to hear he's feeling ok though.

WinifredSanderson · 04/10/2020 19:40

@MJMG2015 it took my GP 18 months after my numerous visits with blue lips and fingers/toes to finally decide I had reynauds. There's no treatment for it so it's really just a title for what occurs. Quite possibly OPs DH has this disorder and that's why the lack of interest.
