ds2 has had a temperature since sunday night.

he is normally about 36.2 and it's been 37.6 or thereabouts all week.

he had headache monday and tuesday but that seems to have gone.

problem is tonight he is now much hotter (38.3) and he sounds croaky.

should i be worrying that he seems to have gone worse.

saw a doctor yesterday who thought it was probably a virus.

help!! worried

is he eating and drinking?

Tamdin · 10/10/2007 20:12

sympathies. ds has had tonsillitis for 3 weeks now and is on 2nd course of ab's even though he managed to get to 20 months with none at all
what age is your ds?
there are lot of bugs going around atm
If he seems ok (ish)(ie eating and drinking) and has no rash i wouldn't panic but you know your child better than anyone so if really concerned phone out of hours gp or nhs direct

says his throat isn't sore but sounds like it should be iykwim

belgo · 10/10/2007 20:14

is there a medical reson why he can't take nurofen?

Please don't worry too much - there are loads of viruses going around at the moment and 38.3 isn't particularly high.

Make sure he drinks and give him the calpol.

belgo · 10/10/2007 20:15

If you can't control his temperature or if he has difficulty breathing, then I would be more concerned.

cheeryface · 10/10/2007 20:18

he's asthmatic thats why i don't give him neurofen.

ok I thought so.

Just watch out for any worsening of his symptoms.

cheeryface · 10/10/2007 20:25

he wants to go to bed now.

other than croaky throat, and being off food a bit it's just the high temp thats worrying me. thought it would have gone down rather than up by now
