has food poisoning 3 weeks ago and bad diarreah for 3 days. took immodium and ended up with constipation for 3 days. Then suddenly got diarreah back a few days later and too immodium again.

Ive now had constipation for nearly 2 weeks since i took it the second time.

Dont really want to take laxatives. what else can i do to make me go properly again without making it feel like im trying to crap a football, then having a tiny peanut come out!

try syrup of figs if it's very bad.
try eating figs, prunes, dates.
Drink lots of water, eat lots of fibre

lots of warm water (tea'll do) and also take pro biotic (live) yogurt to replace your 'friendly' bacteria - yes they do exist! guts'll be back to normal in no time.

Well the first thing would be to say ditch the immodium! It's a great thing to have as a last resort, but if it's causing this much of a problem then I would avoid it.

Are you drinking plenty? This really helps, as does exercise - will help to get things moving.

Other things to consider:

coffee
orange juice
high dose of vitamin C

And my personal favourite, Thorntons diabetic vanilla fudge - honestly! It's got polyols in it which have a laxative effect. You may as well enjoy your laxative - but beware as the effects kick in pretty quickly. I would try eating a quarter of the bag and waiting a couple of hours!

The 2nd bout of diarrhoea may have been "overflow" diarrhoea,"When the bowel is loaded with hard impacted faeces it can irritate the lining of the colon. This causes the colon to produce mucous which liquefies the contents of the bowel."
You need to up you intact of fruit & fibre, ripe kiwi is good as are dried figs, drink loads and exercise, walking is good.
