Was literally just laying the table earlier when this almighty pain just above my hip area came out of the blue, so severe that I instantly couldn't put any weight on that side and fell to the floor. I was dizzy, shaking, sweating like crazy - honestly thought I was about to pass out. I felt very nauseous so dragged myself to the toilet, where I just about got myself into the foetal position and called 111.

The whole time going through their v long triage process, I was still clammy and shaking and the pain was like nothing I've ever felt before. Then all of a sudden, I could put weight on it again.

It's still very much there- a weird sharp pain which seems to move from the area just above my hip bone on one side only, to spread out all down that leg and also hurt up under my ribs / into my side.

111 put me onto a clinician who said possibly back or kidneys, but as I was now weight bearing, just to try and see my GP within the next few days. No GP appointments until Monday and the pain is v much still here, especially if I lean forwards. I can't even lean in to eat my dinner, or bend to put socks on. But I can walk about in a hobbly way. Getting in / out of the car is the most painful thing.

I dont know what to make of it or what it could be, any ideas?

You can get sciatica down the front, depending on the location of the problem. Have you had back/hip/pelvis problems?

The dizziness, shaking and sweating sounds very much like what I've had with severe pain, it's a reaction to extreme pain.

Um I've been seeing an osteo for lower back pain but it's not been anything like this and I'd actually just been discharged!

Take some anti inflammatories with food. Good luck with the GP.
