my son's cord came off a week ago and there is still small amounts of blood clots on his nappy from the belly button area each time I change him. I am beginning to get concerned, it seems a long time and then wound still isn't healed yet. Please help.

Do you turn the nappy down so it isn't covered so some air can get to it? and it doesn't keep catching...Also if you can some nappy/clothes free time. I would ask HV or MW if still visiting to have a quick look.

My dd's cord stump didn't heal well - turned out it was re-growing (can't remember name for it, but its not uncommon) and was watched in case it needed cauterizing. In the event, it didn't - just took a few weeks to heal. I'd also suggest your ask your MW to check it - or your HV - if only for peace of mind!

My daughter had a granuloma, took months to heal and oozed clear liquid and bled slightly etc. Health visitor said just to keep it clean and it would eventually heal, not at all painful for baby just a bit of a pain to keep clean. However at her 12 week check up my dr put silver nitrate on it and it healed within days, maybe take him to see your gp? Some info here
Hope this helps!
