Brown spotting and period cramps after sex

Evening all

Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this because I’m freaking out a bit...

Friday afternoon myself and my husband had sex and I noticed a tiny amount of pinky/brown blood on the sheets. Since then I have had brown spotting with some period type cramps... has anyone else ever had this? I had my last smear in jan and it came back clear. I’m 31 and my periods are usually like clockwork, this was a week after my period ended so pretty sure nothing to do with that.... if it was something bad would the blood be red? Are the cramps a bad sign? Aaaargh haha

Any experiences would be appreciated. I’m very anxious about health generally so obviously googling and scaring myself to death...!

I've had it before. I have health anxiety too and it's awful. See if it happens again once it's stopped. Are you on the pill or anything?

Thank you, I think I will. It’s all but stopped now a few days later so think I will try to have sex again in a day or so and see if it happens again! What did it end up being for you? No not on any birth control x

It was a cervical ectropion.

I had bleeding after sex when I stopped the pill.
It was an erosion and I needed it cauterising in the end. Never had a problem since.

I had this happen as well recently, and the doctor asked if my period had finished in the past week (it had infact finished the day before) but it sounds like it can happen up to a week after your period ends (the blood can get "mixed up and swooshed around"!!). I didn't bleed on the sheets but did when I went for a wee later on, and I also had the crampy pain and brown spotting. The doctor only asked me to come in and see her because I have had a previous abnormal smear. She did have me do a chlamydia test though as this can cause bleeding (it was negative) so don't be alarmed if they do ask you to do that!!
