Blood test last week, scan on Wednesday- freaking out

I finally went to the drs last week as I had been experiencing a lot of bloating (like period-type bloating but at other times in cycle plus pain during sex. Dr took vaginal swabs, blood tests and said she would refer me for an US scan but didn't imply any urgency.

The same day as I had the blood test the dr receptionist called to say one of the blood tests had come back, showing signs of inflammation?? And that I need to have the test repeated in a week. I should have asked more but I was with toddler DD and she caught me off guard as I wasn't expecting the results the same day.

I just got a call from the hospital asking me to go for an ultrasound in 2 days time. I'm massively freaked out now- why is it all happening so quickly?

Repeat blood test tomorrow so will ask de more questions then but just having a little freak out here for now Confused

That's great it's moving so fast. Hopefully you will get answers soon. The results and symptoms could mean a range of things, from gyn, digestive or intolerances.

I had much the same experience and it turned out to be a cyst on an ovary, resolved itself. They thoughts it might be pelvic inflammatory disease which is quite common and has the same symptoms, and it's treat with a course of antibiotics, so it could be something as simple as that.

Thanks both. Yes really good to get a scan so soon, I should be pleased rather than worried! Hopefully it's cysts or similar.

I’ve been rushed through for ultrasounds and been nothing twice now. I waited ages third time. They probably thought what again? Back of the queue love.

Thanks @Fluffycloudland77 that did make me laugh for the first time today! Did your issues get resolved?

Yes, it was a cervical polyp, then a uterine polyp, then a chocolate cyst.

All very mundane stuff that no ones going to publish a paper on.

It just means my dr always has her speculum ready when I see her.

@Fluffycloudland77 haha yeah when I had my second ultrasound with the gyn she just shrugged and said 'boring, nothing of interest just a cyst.' Which made me laugh but was also a relief 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/09/2020 18:47

Boring is good!.

WinifredSanderson · 21/09/2020 19:25

I'd take boring over worrying any day!
