DS has got his 8 week jabs tomorrow and a friend has suggested that I give him a little bit of calpol before the doctors and then a little bit more after. What do you think about this? Have any of you done it?

I don't usually bother before the jabs just after, but only if she gets a bit hot.

didnt bother with the Calpol as DD was fine. U need to bring water or milk after his jab to calm his upsetness! DD only just let a 2 second cry out and she was fine.

and if he does have a fever AFTER the jab...best to give him Calpol to reduce the fever

As a nurse who gives vacinations I'm afraid to tell you that calpol before hand will not make any difference as by time the vacination has set in the calpol will wear off. Also paracetamol is a toxic drug and I really wouldn't give it without it being required. Only give a half dose if the temperature raises above 37 degrees but try and use light clothing and sponging first.
Hope that helps.

When DS2 had his eight week jabs the other week the nurse advised to give him calpol afterwards which I did, and did with DS1 when he had his.
