Thought I had gallstones but nothing there??

Anyone ever suffered suspected gallstones? Absolute agony, pain in right upper abdo, radiating round to the back, lasting hours and hours, flares up after rich food or alcohol. To then have an US and it show nothing? I'm baffled. Still awaiting bloods but I don't understand how I can be in so much pain and there be nothing there. Would love to hear from anyone who's been through similar. Thanks x

Yes. Exactly this. By the time I had the scan the little fucker had migrated to my bile duct. Next scan and it had gone. The doctor reckons I passed it. 10 years ago and no further flare ups thank goodness.

Thank you! She could see everything really clearly , said nothing in the duct of anything! I feel such a fraud! All my upper abdomen still feels tender and bloated since Sunday though I'm baffled.

You can have gallbladder pain and the ultrasound presents as normal. Sometimes the stones are so small that an ultrasound can’t pick up on them and it causes biliary colic pain.

The blood tests will help point the GP’s in the right direction.

Oh that's good to know. I feel like a proper hypochondriac! Hopefully it shows something (nothing sinister) but something that explains the pain. Thanks for replying
