CRP level 51 - ultrasound 5 weeks away, no contact from GP?

I went to my GP with excruciating stomach pain last week - had blood tests on Thurs, and this rather high CRP level was the result. The GP hasn't called to discuss it at all, so I don't know what the result might mean. I had a call from the diagnostics clinic to arrange an ultrasound, but the first appointment is 5 weeks away.

I did call the surgery, but after queuing for 25 mins was told that the GP wouldn't be calling. Confused The pain is miles better than it was but I still feel occasionally sweaty and out of sorts with an upset stomach.

I don't know what to think, shouldn't the doctor call to explain the result? Google tells me that 51 is quite high, but not morbidly so. I only know the result because I looked it up on the NHS app, otherwise I'd have been none the wiser.

Oh and I feel exhausted today even though I slept perfectly well. I'm not much one for feeling tired normally.

Why dont you book a tel appointment to discuss the result if you are worried about it?

Mytho · 08/09/2020 18:51

But if you are feeling much better the result has probably improved by now

I wouldn't get an appt just for that? The parameters are very specific.

Not much point in the scan referral then really!

Ok, but your GP hasn't rang you.
So either you need to ring reception and say you want an explanation about the blood results or to discuss your blood test results.
They should let you know if you need to book an appointment to do this or if the GP will ring you back.
At our surgery we are told to ring for the results. I

If the results are ok the receptionist tells me.
If there is a problem she cant explain the results and I need to book an appointment with the GP to discuss and decide what the management is.
