I have had 3 throat "infections" in 4 weeks. I'm on 3rd lot of antibiotics, throat swab came back clear. The ABs do seem to clear the throat up but 2 days after finishing them the symptons come back! I'm having blood test tomorrow for GF. Feeling tired, a bit achy etc., when I'm normally full of beans! Getting fed up now, want to be normal again and have a life. Throat is better now but still on antibiotics. Scared that it'll come back when i finish this lot. Anyone else have experience of such things. Doc says its either GF or a virus I'm finding it difficult to shake off. Also feel a bit anxious/depressed with this... DH being great but will be back at work tomorrow, so I'll be unable to rest from tomorrow onwards with 4 year old and 2 year old running around! Grateful for any comments.

tatcity I had GF diagnosed about a year ago, I had an awful cold but glands/throat no worse than usual, then I just got tireder and tireder until I virtually collapsed one day and by then it had been picked up in some blood tests.

I sincerelyi hope you haven't got it, it was hell on earth.

Have you had the blood tests for it?

tatcity · 17/10/2004 17:49

having a blood test tomorrow. Feeling a bit better today, but glands have been "up" for about 4 weeks now with this recurring sore throat. I'm desperately hoping this last dose of antibiotics will clear the mystery up.

Don't tell me its hell on earth though! Don't most people recover from it within a month or so?

Ok panic (sort of) over - glandular fever test came back negative. But - if it wasn't glandular fever, what the hell was it? Seem better now, but will it come back for a fourth time? Hope not.

Can viruses last this long? What is the best way to fight them?
