Question about emetophobia - is anyone awake to give some advice?

I have had a phobia about being sick for many years, but it has become a real problem since my DD was born nearly a year ago. This is mainly because she occasionally picks up a tummy bug, and I find this difficult to deal with and am extremely frightened of catching it myself (though by and large, we are healthy).

I find that I have a continual underlying anxiety about this. Sometimes it affects my appetite, and sometimes I feel panicky at night and this is why I am on MN now!

I have seen some other threads on MN about this phobia, so thought that others might have some advice to offer. Do you know of any treatments that may help? Would it be worth approaching my GP for support, or would they just tell me to pull myself together? How do others wtih this stupid phobia cope with their children being ill?

Oh I know that sense of relief so well ellbell! I hope you're 'enjoying' your cold (I know you'll know what i mean by that )

And I really really hope the airborne thing is rubbish because it's been playing on my mind something rotten. I do such a lot of hand-washing but I can't stop breathing!

Glad all went well EB! So far so good in the bubble house, have monitered everything that has gone into all childrens mouths! They are sitting very calmly watching X Factor!

Heres to a peaceful night! LOL

Hope it was all OK, pinkbubbles. I've been sending peaceful vibes your way. DD2 is fine now... though still coughing, which makes my heart miss a beat occasionally, but she's definitely on the mend. Phew!

Yes thanks Ellhell, all went well, phew thats another hurdle over, one of those things you rather didnt happen, but don't want DDs to miss out on!
