Sports massage - do you undress in front of the massage guy?

I have just had a "sports injury rehab" kind of massage for the first time.

I have had a lot of other types of massage/ therapies which involve getting undressed, and always before the therapist leaves the room whilst you change. For my sports massage this didn't seem to be the norm, it was a case of get undressed in front of the guy who does the massage. Is this unusual? Nothing untoward happened, but it just shocked me a bit!

I have just never got undressed in front of a strange man before. Let alone one who was outrageously fit! It has weirded me out.

i'm a massage therapist also, and i dont leave the room but i do respect client modesty and hold a towel up and make sure the client is comfortable about it. i dont leave the room because its good to help the client onto the couch safely.

i did have a client who had issues, which i was aware of and i simply asked her if she preferred me to leave the room, which she did. this was fine with me.

i think especially if you have a male therapist, he should have been a little more sensitive.... just because he may have seen it all before, doesnt mean you have to be comfortable with that. next time, ask him to hold a towel up... like he's been trained to do!
