Sore tongue and lips - B12

I am being driven mad by this condition as I don’t know what is causing it or how to cure it!

both corners of my mouth are cracked sore and peeling, and patches all over my tongue which are also very sore and visibly red. It hurts to eat and some foods make it much worse. Toothpaste is so irritating now.

I have had this for months. I went to a pharmacist who said ok let’s try cold sore cream (didn’t work).

I then went to another pharmacist who said you need your B12 levels done by your GP and to try thrush medication. I rang the GP and they wouldn’t see me, in person or over video or do my B12 and gave me the Nystan. This did not work.

I went to a different pharmacist on Friday who gave me another antibacterial cream and said you need your B12 levels looked at - cream isn’t working either.

I don’t know what to say to the GP that I haven’t already said or asked for. 2 pharmacists have told me to have my B12 done but my GP surgery are from the dark ages!

Is this a symptom of low B12?

I do suffer with a lot of stomach problems, I had an upper endo last year which was fine visually and on biopsy but I still have reflux. I have slow gut motility, IBS. I get a lot of headaches and bruise easily. I have very heavy periods and been badly anaemic before and feel like I am always in a bit of a fog but I don’t know enough about B12.

This weekend I slept for 14 hours Friday night, falling asleep at 8.30pm! Last night I was drowsy and tired at 8.30pm and I woke up at 8am. I am late for work every day and or have a headache

Does anyone have advice what I could say to the dismissive GP?

I have multiple large fibroids and heavy periods so that is the assumption that is not the bowel.

I have no new bowel symptoms or family history. I’ve had IBS for over 20 years, def set off by some kinds of food and drink. I am often a bit constipated but they look ok, never had a bleed from there and don’t get terrible pains. I do get bloated but this is after meals and very IBS in its way

Yes I’ve had all the inflammatory bowel conditions tested for over the years and all clear. I’ve had an upper endoscopy but never a colonoscopy as I haven’t had a ‘need’ to.

Liver/kidneys all ok and no inflammation markers seen

Not the first time I’ve had period related anaemia but the worst time I’ve had it. I’ve had really bad bleeds in the past but I’ve not taken any iron for about 18 months so perhaps this is an accumulation over a long period

So I can go a week between BM’s but this by far nothing new, it’s been like this for years

Also have lost zero weight

I don’t know what else they would look for
