Weird lump on tongue

Currently my doctors are not seeing people but are doing an online consultation where we take pictures and describe the symptoms, so far had 1 call back saying they are not sure what it is but don't think it's anything serious but to keep taking pictures and sending to them for another 2 weeks

So for roughly 3 weeks I've had a lump on my tongue, it's white and occasionally will bleed but it doesn't hurt and is not causing pain, is just a little irritating as I find myself chewing in it, the picture doesn't really show what it looks like in r/l though

Sounds really unpleasant. Hope you are okay... In the meantime, you can try every flavour Ben and Jerry's!!

Oh glad they removed it for you, worth the discomfort!! I hope the results are ok & you get to enjoy your ice cream!

I tried to eat some ice cream but it was too painful, my mouth and tongue are still swollen and it's to sore to swallow so I haven't eaten since yesterday morning, I can just about drink but hopefully by the weekend I will be fine

The lump was the size of a baked bean

So recovery is going well, wasn't able to eat anything until yesterday pm when I had a little bit of soup and ice cream, today so much better as the swelling has reduced and had a very small roast dinner which took forever to eat as it is sore to swallow and I have got some excellent dissovable paracetamol

Hope you are doing ok now Op, did you find out what it was? A lump the size of a baked bean must have been so annoying! Did they show you after they removed it?

So good news. I heard today that it was a benign cyst so I'm very happy about that Smile

@sunintheskyyouknowhowifeel

Sorry only just saw your message

They did show me but it was already in a tube with some sort of fluid in it so I got a distorted view of it and it was strange looking, the top part which was on the surface of the tongue was bigger than the rest (think tiny toadstool)

I had a couple days of pain and dribbling because I literally couldn't swallow but everything is good now

The area where they extracted is healing nicely still looks strange as they cut around the area so I have what looks like maybe 2 inch groove in my tongue

Great news!

I had a very similar lump a few years ago . My doctor sent me to the dental department of our local hospital where I had it cut off with local anaesthetic. I was petrified as I'm not good with dentists but they were very reassuring and I've not had a problem since .

@ken1976

I felt fine about the whole thing until I was on the bed and they told me what they were going to and all of a sudden it became very real, the worst bit was the numbing spray and injections Shock
