Started off with hiccups a few weeks ago then pain under breast bone, then a feeling of having a lump in my throat. This has been ongoing for 3 weeks or more now. I also have the burning acid feeling which is worse at night time!! I've tried gaviscon, indegestion tablets, drinking water, trying to eat less. I have obviously put on weight and probably classed in the obese section even though I'm a size 14. It's really getting me down now never had this before only during pregnancyans it's so uncomfortable 😭

Ask a pharmacist, look it up on NHS website etc. It sounds like a hiatus hernia.

Have you spoken to a chemist or doctor? They're probably best to advise.

Are you going through a stressful time, or feel unwell in other ways?

It could be too much stomach acid OR too little. I have the latter and have found a diet overhaul is making a big difference, as is knowing what triggers it.

Best to get some help to get to the bottom of it. I found a nutritionist really helpful in that respect, more so than the doctor.

I'd look at what you're eating and keep a food and symptoms diary. I had heartburn for over year until i cut most dairy out of my diet but it could also be triggered by fatty foods, fizzy drinks, alcohol, stress......
If it persists then I would contact your GP as they will probably prescribe something to relieve it, but ultimately I'd suggest you try and find the root cause.

Thank you for your replies. I will try and keep a food log and see if I can see any triggers. I hope it's not an hiatus hernia 😭 probably putting on over a stone hasn't helped 😬

I have a hiatus hernia and it causes me minimal problems. I take 20mg Nexium (otc) daily.

I am pregnant @Dickorydockwhatthe but I'm prone to it when not pregnant too. Omeprazole (prescribed) is very effective. Might be worth ringing your GP?

Thanks Flat I may have to do that as not easing and so uncomfortable.
