Persistent and recurrent blardy thrush

Right, I am bloody sick of this.

I have had thrush pretty much constantly since birth of last DC 7 months ago. Tried yoghurt (eating the probiotics as well as, er, applying the stuff), canisten etc.

Went to the docs a month ago and got some thermo-nuclear anti-fungal pessaries, plus an oral tablet.

All well and good. Until this morning when the blardy itching is back.

Naturally I have made an appointment with my GP, but I would really like some advice if anyone has any.

are you sure it isn't crabs?

has your dp been treated? maybe you are reinfecting each other?

have you tried opening the pribiotic capsules and actually inserting them 'down there' have heard this can be helpful for problems in that area.

also there is a product in Boots called Bio Fem, used to be Acigel I think, which is meant to prevent thrush. Not sure if it treats it but might be worth using next time you are clear and see if it keeps it away.

And also look at your diet - some foods encourage thrush more then others.

also only wear loose fitting cotton undies.

Plain natural yoghurt with probiotics, applied to the site of the problem and eaten worked for me along with cutting down the amount of sugar in my diet and switching to looser 100% cotton underpants. I know how horrible it is and hope that it goes away soon. Also check that your dp/dh doesn't have it as well and isn't re-infecting you.

also don't use any soaps/shower gels/bubble bath solution - don't use any of that sort of stuff down there.

I have heard you shouldn't use shower gels/bubble bath etc... but how can you do that in reality? I'd be paranoid it wasn't 'clean'!!

use aqueous cream or aqueous cleansing bar for washing down below....

No actually advice, but if made me larf..

Def get your DP to use the cream twice a day for a week or so while you are treating yourself. Use condoms for at least a fortnight. He may not have any symptoms but there's no point you treating yourself then having 'close contact' with him.
Saltwater and teatree oil in water are antifungal, try and bathe your bits. Once when we were broke I got DH to perch on a stool with his nob in a jug of salty teatree water for 10mins! Any saltwater swimming pools near you?

okay here we go then I am the master of thrush I have conquered it after a year I rock

eat less bread and sugar if you eat a lot - I did go on the full anti-candida diet and this worked but as soon as I stopped it came back - I wouldn't recommend it unless you are desperate

are there any triggers (eg red wine always does it for me)

drink lots water esp if drinking alcohol

100% cotton knickers

take a high strength probiotic (like acidophilus - ask at health food shop) with at least 4 billion live organisms in (they will know what this means) morning and night with a cold drink

eat live yogurt (most natural yogurt is live so find one you like and eat that, don't get the bleeding sugary Yakult nonsense, as long as it does not say 'pasteurised' it is a good thing)

finally

after 100 thousand prescriptions I went to a lady doctor who asked was it deep inside (sorry if TMI) or on the vaginal lips outside, for me it was the latter. She said if it persisted she would refer me on to a specialist apparently you can get excema and dermatitis there as well

But she said she would prescribe me a cream called Timodene to see if that worked

Sorry but if you're really suffering then these are the things you need to avoid:

beer
chocolate

any alcohol
anything fermented - e.g. vinegar, soy sauce
mushroom and fungus e.g. Quorn
bread/wheat/pasta/rice
fruit
sugar
smoked foods

So basically pretty much anything that you might enjoy!

Things that have worked for me over the years:

coming off the pill
Diflucan (or Boots equivalent)
Canestan pessary (cream seemed to do bugger all)
eating a low carb diet
taking acidophilus (a good one - definitely not Yakult or Actimel, even the low sugar ones)

Me too! Was hopeless at it.

But there may be some things that the OP is eating (vast) quantities of that could easily be cut out.

I just drink white wine instead

white wine and vodka are ok apparently

red wine and beer are bad

And as long as it's dry white wine that should be fine!

I had feared that my attempts to devour the EU bread mountain might not be advised...
the diet suggested does pretty much eliminate everything I enjoy, so I'll be saving that one for the future (please God don't let it come to that).

In the meantime, I'm going to get me to the health food shop, increase my water intake, and purchase some new knickers a size too big to keep the air flowing.

Cross your fingers for me.

sorry to be so personal but which way do you wipe? rich and judy gave advice to wipe from front to back and loads of womens thrush cleared, my friends did when i saw her wiping her front bottom back to front.
