Hi all,

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. I had mild symptoms of a ear infection for th last few months but just thought it was allergies and didn't want to go to the gp due to the covid situation, but last night my ear started to hurt so I went today and was told I do have ear infection in both ears, worse on the left side. For the past few months I've had headaches on the left hand side of my head (especially on the top of my head) which I put down to being hormones as I also have a ovarian cyst. I asked the doctor today if the ear infection could cause a headache and she said possibly and keep an eye on the headaches
So does anyone know if it could be related? I'm now panicking I have meningitis and worse scenarios. Thank you xx

i always get headaches with ear infections so it is possible. when i get a really bad ear infection i get pain up into my temple, down my jaw, and around the back of my ear. try not to panic! (easier said than done, i know. i’m terrible for looking up my symptoms and coming to the worst case scenario!) but if the headaches persist after the infection clears up definitely see a doctor again.

I had meningitis when I was 21

I started with the worst headache. I couldn’t even move type headache. I lay as still as I could. Because even breathing hurt. Then I started vomiting blood.

If you’ve got mennigitis. You wouldn’t be able to be on your phone.

I don’t remember the next month. My mum called an ambulance. I went into ICU. I had a very small patch of the rash. So I’m lucky to be alive. It always makes me laugh when the 111 callers ask you that. Because by that time I was in w coma…it’s the last thing to come out and most people don’t make it once the rash appears. I spent 5 months in hospital. For 4 months I had IV antibiotics every 4 hrs.

So I doubt you’ve got the bacterial one. Viral one is different. But you’d still be quite unwell.
