can a cold sore be a very early sign of pregnancy?

Hi everyone, Ive woken up with a big cold sore on my chin and im wondering if this could be caused by early pregnancy hormonal changes? Its too early for me to be able to take a pregnancy test until next week.

I do get cold sores but usually its linked to stress ,but ive not had any stress and been trying to be eat healthy. Has anyone else had the same and turned out its caused by pregnancy? or is this a myth?

Thanks

I have never heard that link been made , cold sore is a virus not hormone based , I get them every now and then and like you I have not been stressed (more than normal ! ) but I think they are linked to stress because generally when people are stressed they dont look after them selves / eat properly / drink and smoke more etc so their bodies don't have the fuel it needs to fight the virus off .

However I am in no way medically trained so all of the above could be complete tosh !

No. Never heard of that

Nope no link between the two at all. They’re viral infections

HermioneWeasley · 05/08/2020 15:11

You’ll have to wait for your pregnancy test

No.

They can also commonly be triggered by sunshine. Very unlikely to be pregnancy related!

Is it definitely a cold sore? I got some horrible chin/forehead acne in early pregnancy and had never had anything like it before

PotteringAlong · 05/08/2020 15:19

No. It’s a virus. Pregnancy isn’t.

Mrsmujic · 05/08/2020 15:27

Thanks, I've just read that a surge in hormones can sometimes trigger the virus to show it's ugly head! Just can't really think of another explanation as normally it's stress related for me or really very cold weather than flares me up!

Actually there could be something to that. I came down with a horrendous primary case of herpes and discovered that I was pregnant two weeks later. It was a welcome surprise after feeling so ill! The hormonal change can lay you low. Guess you will find out soon enough!

I used to get them mid month, almost every month.
