MMR... (sorry, same old story!)

My daughter had the combined vaccine. Now my son is 13months and due to have his on Wednesday. People are coming out of the woodwork to warn me that boys are more susceptable to autism and I should at least postpone the injection until he's 18mths. Will 5 months really make much difference or should we go for the separate injections???

I felt happy enough with DD having it, but now am not sure with the 'boy' aspect being thrown in.

I know this is contentious, but what is the consensus??

ds1 (NT) had the MMR at 13 1/2 months after much dithering. I have had very slight autoimmune issues. We wanted singles but found them impossible to source at the time/place. I now regret it - not because ds1 wasn't fine afterwards - he was - but because it seemed like a gamble in retrospect. Result: he will not be having the so-called booster and with ds2 we will be taking the singles route from the beginning.

Gess's posts on this (you are sadly missed Gess ) are fab. She helped me when I was dithering.

RnB - I've just had my DS immunised with the MMR. He's 13 months old. I have an auto-immune disorder (mild Crohn's disease), and your post has made me feel v anxious.

I did read quite a bit about the MMR before having it done, but tried to stick to mainstream internet sites (NHS etc) for information, and repeatedly read that there is no proven connection with autism.

If it was a fact that MMR can trigger autism, would these sources of information not be obliged to declare it?

there are no risk factors in my family so i went for the triple jab with DS when he was 14 months - he was fine and continues to be fine
it is a big decision so do what is right for you and yours
i know plenty of people who opted for single jabs and those that didn't

I have posted about this recently but my dd is due to have an MMR booster (not pre-school but following chemotherapy).

She had the triple vaccine at 13 months and was fine. However, my fil has an auto-immune disease and some allergies and my dh was asmhatic as a child and has some allerigies.

Now that I have to do it again, i'm unsure. My ds also had the triple vaccine and is fine.

What would your opinion be please? Sorry to hijack thread. This is not the only booster, she has to go back to the start of immunsations and have boosters of them all.

What exactly constitutes immunity issues? I have asthma and allergies to dust, pollen, cat fur etc? DS has excema quite badly too. Does that mean he may be more at risk???

He had it done on Friday. He's been quite grizzly since then. But I think it's because he has a cold, rather than a reaction to the MMR (runny nose, no temperature). TBH I'm too scared to look at any more info now
