He was very upset at the time, and told us he had hurt his head and his shoulder - massive bruise on shoulder to prove point. he never mentioned his head again, although once or twice since he has mentioned seeing "double", but I get like that when I'm very tired, and thought it was the same with him. Anyway, over the weekend he has complained all the time of seeing double, and now tells me he has had it a lot since he fell. Of course I feel like worst mother ever. I have tried the docs to ask tehir advice and keep getting the engaged tone, and NHS Direct I keep getting a message saying they are very busy. He's 7 BTW. Any advice?

did they do any tests? how can they say it's nothing to worry about? I would definately be looking for a second opinion in your position - even if i had to go to another A&E or the same one even

They just looked into his eyes and got him to follow the docs finger with his eyes. that was all, asked a few questions and off we wnet. he 9the doc) said that they only worry if the child is being sick, that means there is a build up of pressure and that double vision is nothimg to worry about. As I said, he described it as non-specific

My sister had friends whose son fell and hit his head and still has double vision nearly a year later, it's stopping him develop in sport and affecting what how he learns in school.

I'm not a doctor but anything with vision and I'd want a 2nd opinion. Do you have an amenable gp?

just thinking.... would an optitian be more helpful?

saltire · 01/10/2007 18:39

My GP is crap, have a lot of issues going on regarding my health and am about to start chanign GP. Plus the place we are in won't give me an appointment until 2/3 weeks away
Did think of an optician, will see what they say and how easy it is to get child appointments
