Hello,

I've had to have an X-ray and a nuclear chest scan at 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant due to a risk of PE (blood clot in lungs), is this safe for my baby?

I wasn't too sure where to post this so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong thread

Thanks

Hello @Kelcat9494, just wondered how you got on? did you have a healthy pregnancy and bubba? I know this post is from last year but I just had an abdominal X-ray and I didn’t know I was pregnant and now I am freaking out from all the bad things I’ve read on the internet 😢.
Any update would be fab x

Hi @Misswhoshallnotbenamed I am a radiographer. I just wanted to reassure you that the risks are very, very low. In fact I'm pretty sure that in the past they used to routinely X-ray pregnant women to look at foetal development. So please don't worry! I know it's probably hard, and sounds like your pregnancy was a surprise.

Hello @ScottishBeth, thanks so much for the reply! Yes my pregnancy was a surprise (had the abdo X-ray @ around 3 & a half weeks preg, found out about a week later) I am besides myself. Google is the devil, everything is so contradictory :(. Thanks for putting my mind at ease! X

@Misswhoshallnotbenamed no problem Smile

X-ray doses are very low. So don't worry! Maybe talk to your doctor about it as well. And congratulations Flowers
