Does anyone know what this pain is I've been getting in my lower ribs and back?

So I have had a feeling of food stuck in my oesophagus about 3 weeks now at various times incl when I'm not eating

4-5 times and in increasing frequency in the last week I've had this stabbing type pain in my upper back which goes out under the shoulder blades?
And a deep aching pain in the chest? It feels like I've been kicked I guess? Seems to be after I've eaten. Then last night I woke up from the pain and had to go take pain killers.

Things I've tried:

Wind medicine
Acid pills just the chalk ones
Buscopan
Paracetamol
Apple cider vinegar

Should I contact GP? I would use the e consult thing and I'm starting to worry it's my gall bladder
I'm 27 😭 I'm v confused

Have you tried gaviscon advance? Changing what you eat and when you eat it? Sound like indigestion.
That travels under your ribs and shoulder blade can be very sharp and severe is exactly what you are describing.
No caffeine of fizzy drinks
Some people (my who family are aggravated by milk)
No acidic foods or juices salad dressings etc
No chewing gum
Reduce fatty foods
Stay sitting upright
Eat small amounts often
Dont eat late
Sleep propped up
Try gavisvon advance and over the counter omeprazole ftom boots together. The former southern the burnt stomach and oesophagus the second stops acid production which has gone into overdrive. Give it several days .
If it doesn't work reconsider. From your description i suspect this is the problem.

GlamGiraffe · 23/07/2020 08:13

Oh, and no more apple cider vinegar 😬😯

Shosha1 · 23/07/2020 08:14

Look up costochonderitis. Sounds like it. I've had it in an extreme form for the last 4 years. It started off just like you describe.

cultkid · 23/07/2020 08:16

@GlamGiraffe

Thanks for this I have omeoperazole in the cupboard

Ill give gaviscon a go,

The vinegar has really good rationale, promise!

Its to do with reflux being sometimes for low acid.. I know I know I know I sound bonkers 😆

Please get checked out by your GP. My mum had exactly the same symptoms.

Chimpfield · 23/07/2020 08:22

Sorry pressed send too soon. I don't mean to be alarmest, but she spent months self medicating with antacids etc and wasted valuable time

Arnoldthecat · 23/07/2020 19:01

Get a GP appointment ASAP. Before going, write down all your symptoms so that you dont forget when you get there.

cultkid · 23/07/2020 20:33

Hey; I've pondered all day

So I had a scan with dye Booked

Due to a query AI problem following sepsis

But cancer is all over my family

Be just my FUCKING luck

I have two boys.
Not sure I can deal with any results

I pay for private medical care, don't have insurance

Do you think it's gall bladder or what

I am 47 kg not fat and don't eat lots of shit but also I am not a freak for health I just eat well

💔 worried

Costochondritis can be a complication following Covid. I've have/had both.

The Covid symptoms can vary wildly. Could you have had it?

DrCoconut · 23/07/2020 20:39

I had similar and have just screened positive for coeliac disease, awaiting hospital appointment for confirmation now. It's an atypical presentation but maybe worth checking, especially if you have any toilet issues or have ruled out more obvious things.

cultkid · 23/07/2020 20:45

No, not Covid

I had a nephrostomy and it messed up my nerves, they are so damaged

I am worried I've got gall bladder issues

Shitting it that it's cancer

I fobbed off an iodine ct scan on Tuesday on the basis it's Radiation when I've already had over 15 ct scans

OP posts:
cultkid · 23/07/2020 20:45

Haven't had a CT for ... 4 years

OP posts:
cultkid · 23/07/2020 20:45

@Chimpfield

What was wrong with her

OP posts:
YoyoRiot · 23/07/2020 20:46

Have you considered it could be kidney stones?

cultkid · 23/07/2020 20:49

Too high

I've had them which felt like death

But this is literally in my heart

Seems to be connected to eating

So worried about tonight

Newly called 999 myself the other day

Now worrying I'll need my gall bladder out

OP posts:
BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/07/2020 21:21

I'm just going to drop this information here:
One flight is about two CT scans' worth of radiation dose. So if you've ever treated yourself to a holiday in Spain or Greece you're getting the equivalent to four CTs...this is also stochastic risk. Get a scan and some help to get better!

Chimpfield · 23/07/2020 21:22

@cultkid I really don't want to worry you, honestly it could be anything. But what worried me was when you mentioned your swallowing. My mum had oesophageal cancer.

polkadotpixie · 23/07/2020 21:45

Please see your GP. Dysphagia is not a symptom that should be ignored (although it would be extremely unusual to have oesophageal cancer at 27)

Could be a hiatus hernia?

Try not to worry about having your gall bladder out, you'll be absolutely fine if you have to

HildaWasALondoner · 23/07/2020 21:54

Does the pain move around, radiating from front to back? Does it ever go up into your jaw? Does the oesophagus sensation feel like you've swallowed a boiled sweet and it's stuck? Does it subside after 30-90 minutes, and is it helped by lying flat?

I have this, and it's an oesophageal spasm. Incredibly painful and terrifying until you realise it's literally a cramp in your food pipe. Buscopan helps.

I also had a giant gallstone and had my gallbladder out. That pain is different - for me it was a continuous knawing pain, feeling like it was eating from under my right breast all around my right side under my ribs. No amount of repositioning helps, although paracetamol and buscopan can take the edge off. It can make you feel rather unwell too.

But I had my gallbladder out by keyhole and was right as rain afterwards.

Wish you better and I hope you get a good outcome. Flowers

mummmy2017 · 23/07/2020 21:59

Gallbladder is like you swallowed a sweet and it is sitting between your boobs, and it hurts so much you end up calling 999.
The pain is left back under shoulder blade.

cultkid · 24/07/2020 06:44

It feels like a huge piece of chicken stuck in my pipe and then stabbing in my back and chest between my ribs parallel with nipples

Might be a spasm

Interesting about the CT xx

Dontsayyouloveme · 01/08/2020 23:42

cultkid · 17/08/2020 15:43
