I’m currently on the mini-pill following the birth of my daughter a year ago (as I’m breastfeeding) but I’m really struggling to lose weight despite exercising every day and having a good diet/calorie deficit etc. I have read the mini pill can cause issues with your weight. Previously I was on the combined pill and had a similar diet and exercise regime and was easily able to maintain a healthy weight.

Has anyone had this issue with the mini pill and weight loss?

I’m thinking of changing to the coil but I’ve never had it before- is it okay, does it work well? Are there issues with is moving etc? I’m not sure if I’d worry about getting pregnant by accident because it’s moved and I hadn’t noticed!

I’m just wondering what the best options are and was looking for others experiences

Hi OP,

I had a hormonal coil fitted after DD nearly a year ago - no major issues with it and I like that I don’t have to remember anything. I’ve also managed to loose a good few stone so hasn’t impacted my weight loss at all.

I do still have periods which are pretty heavy and can be painful, a lot of people don’t get them on it but it’s worth it I think. I was on the pill before I got pregnant and always forgot to take it so needed something better.

Getting it in was a little painful so take a painkiller before you go, but once it’s in you don’t have to think about it.

Thank you for replying, I think I’m going to speak to my GP about options
