Red blotches

Dd has had soft poos for a couple of weeks which we put down to teething. Last night she had red blotches under her arms and this morning they were over much of her body. She is happy enough and we took her to the doctors who said it was an allergic reaction but he couldn't tell to what. Her diet or clothing or the washing powder hasn't changed so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what could be causing it. The doctor said he had similar problems with babies a few years ago and found out it was due to changes in the ingredients of washing powders. Anyone been through this or can give me any ideas? I'm stumped!! (Dd is 15 months)

Mog - don't know if this helps, but my daughter had something similar when she was about 2 or 3. Looked like hives all over her torso. Doctor could give no explanation and they went away by themselves. Imagine it might have been an allergic reaction to something - couldn't think what though, at the time. She had also been ill the week before and doctor suggested it could be a further reaction to the virus.

I've not been much help really have I?

Mog ... we had this all the time with ds1. It was always after a bout of upset tummy or a runny nose. We were told it was a post-viral rash and common in infants as the immune system is not fully developed. It was sometimes quite frightening ... on one occasion ds was rushed to A&E by a member of nursery staff because he was completely covered in blotches, but by the time the doctor saw him there were only 2 tiny spots left. Ds never seemed bothered by the spots and he grew out of it when he was about 4.
