Sorry if TMI, bit worried and wondering if strep diagnosis is just body settling down again

Sorry if this is TMI but I am a bit worried and wondered if anyone else had suffered anything similar. I had a baby ten months ago by emergency c-section and have just finished breastfeeding and had first period. I've got much more vaginal discharge than usual (milky white/clearish and stringy but no smell, bit like ovulation discharge but just LOTS of it) plus lower abdominal pain that comes and goes and sometimes creates pressure on bowel/bladder.
It started when I finished breastfeeding - the doctor gave me some antibiotics and took some swabs and it cleared up within days. Three weeks on and it's started up again. I went back to the doctors and he says the swabs showed I had strep so he's given me a different lot of antibiotics. I feel a bit crap and also confused - I thought strep didn't present any symptoms? Could all this just be my system settling back down after pregnancy/breastfeeding? Just wondered if anyone else had had anything similar. Sorry for long whingey post - feeling tired and anti-biotic crappy...

i would imagine that if tests showed that was the bacteria present then you need to take antibiotics to kill it all off

It's really common to grow strep on vaginal swabs and unless you're pregnant it is unlikely to cause any problems and probably doesn't need treatment. WHen you stop BF your hormones change and you will start to produce a lot more discharge as you'll be ovulating again. Another possibility is that the antibiotics have given you thrush. If things don't settle do you have somewhere like a family planning or well woman clinic you could go to to get checked over?

Hi thanks for that. I took some precautionary thrush treatment with the last set of antibiotics. I'll complete this latest round of antibiotics and then get started with another thrush treatment just in case...ah, the glamour of motherhood...hopefully these new antibiotics will kill whatever it is off for good and my body will settle down. I used to be able to go from year to year without ever seeing a doctor but since DD1 i seem to be a regular at the doctors.
