Asthma diagnosed as a child, haven't used inhalers for years, symptoms seemed to come back mildly so was put on a preventer inhaler, firstly Qvar then DuoResp Spiromax.

Since I started using them I have had so many problems, firstly awful oral thrush now feel like there is always something in my throat, slightly sore glands, bit of a croaky throat, Have been given the oral mouth gel to use but hasn't done much.

I always rinse my mouth after using the inhaler then brush my teeth and use mouthwash. Has anyone else had these problems?

Buccal candidiasis (thrush) and dysphonia (hoarseness) are the most common side-effects of inhaled steroids www.asthma.org.uk/advice/inhalers-medicines-treatments/inhalers-and-spacers/preventer/#effects.

Have you tried a spacer? Or got the asthma nurse or pharmacist to check how you're using the inhaler? It sounds like too much of the drug is being deposited in your mouth/throat rather than your lungs.

Yes I have watched videos on correct techniques, the asthma nurse said a spacer can't be used with these types of easi-breathe inhalers.
