Short of breath and irregular heart beat but just when sitting

Just that really. It’s being a couple of weeks and suppose I haven’t noticed how much it happens as rarely sit down. However I have a week off work and have been sitting around more and every time I sit it becomes quite uncomfortable and very aware of my heart flutter. I am a reluctant patient but not sure if I need to call the doctor. Just to add I’m not feeling anxious or stressed

Are you taking any decongestants or antihistamine as both can cause elevated heart beat. If you are taking any medication then look at the side effects list. Can't say if you should go to gp or not but if elevated heartbeat is bothering you then a quick way to get it down is by splashing your face with really cold water.

Thanks. I’m not taking any medication at the minute. Just a strange feeling really.

It doesn’t effect me while exercising or anything strenuous that I notice anyway.

If you are not taking medication, not overweight and neither anxious then one explanation is that you might be suffering from a slight infection (viral or other) and the body is trying to fight it off. If the infection is big then you get a fever , for smaller ones it's just heart beat elevation which causes breathlessness. Other possible causes could be slightly raised blood pressure, dehydration, eating little , heat exhaustion.

Thanks. I’ll just monitor it and see if there are any triggers for the time being.

Very strange,i have had this for about 2 weeks too, it's very worrying, mine is also when just sitting, also had a panic attack a couple of nights ago,
I think i am more stressed than i thought i was, and anxiety about it makes it worse
I have low blood pressure and so been a bit light headed as well
