Does anyone know if Amitryptiline (AD) can have a diuretic effect?

I take 20mg at night for pain , but for the past few weeks have been going to the loo at least twice a night. BUT I don't know if it's becasue I'm awake anyway, so aware of the need to go, or if it is the meds having that effect on me

From what I understand it actually has the opposite effect; it's often given to older children to treat bedwetting.

Might be worth asking the GP about it though.

That'll be a 4 week wait then, and then he'll say "Oh wait till you ahve been to the pain clinic"
I didn't know it was given out as cure for bedwetting

It is sometimes, yes.

Although it's also used sometimes as a muscle relaxant (which is why they prescribe it for pain) - maybe it's that which is making you need the loo more?

maybe, mind you, at the risk of TMI, its a lot of urine!More than I drink before bed anyway

How odd!

I wonder if it would be worth you ringing NHS Direct?
