If you're feeling squeamish, look the other way... but has anyone had cervical erosion cauterised?

I've had some mid-cycle bleeding, which has been diagnosed as cervical erosion (which I had in both pgs). The doc said I could have it cauterised - short waiting list, quick op, no side-effects. But it just sounds nasty (& other than the occasional bleeding, doesn't currently cause me any problems)

Anyone had any experience?

yes, years ago, i can't even quite remember how it all came about, but it wasn't especially nasty, i seem to remember they warned me i'd bleed for 6 weeks on & off which was accurate, nothing distressing. presume cauterising it stops the problem getting any worse and turning into something nasty potentially? in which case side effects minimal so prob worth doing.

Yes I have, but in all honesty I can't actually remembre it very well! I have also had my nose cauterised, which was more traumatic. The cervix thing was after a v. difficult pg with ds, so I was probably sleep-deprived and had my head in a thousand different places...I have also had other health probs over the last 5 yrs so they all blend in tbh...

Anyway that shuold at least assure you it can't be that bad or I would have at least remembered it!

hmm, well certainly seems that it isn't as scary as it sounds

I had an erosion cauterised (or was it the freezing thing? I really can't remember!!) many, many years ago and it wasn't too awful. I think I felt a bit crampy for a while and had a bit of bleeding (am sure it wasn't 6wks) and that was it.
