This is very embarrassing hence the name change.
I had quite loose bowel movements this morning but didn't think much of it as i am on my period and it often upsets my bowels.
Tonight when i finished work i felt like i needed another poo and went to the loo after some wind followed what i can only describe as creamy coloured mucus,my bowels feel like they want to move and when they do just this mucus comes out.
I googled anal discharge and now i am terrified
There is no way i have an STD by the way(this came up on google a lot)

No point in scaring youself by Googling! Never Google a health problem! Have a decent meal tonight and see how that turns out - if you pardon the pun! I'm sure you're fine.

Could be: problem with gall bladder (which produces the bile which makes poo brown, no bile = pale poo! sorry if TMI!), problem with fat metabolism, wheat allergy, viral/bacterial infection of the gut - anything basically which causes diarrhea. have you noticed any blood? It's probably just a bad tummy upset but is definitely worth a GP trip. they may ask for a sample though? Drink loads of water/weak tea and have a nice hot bath. Hopefully will be better very soon!

I get that sometimes and I have IBS. I was referred to a Gastro and I mentioned about the discharge and he said its nothing to worry about - its one of the symptoms of IBS.

AuntTulip · 24/09/2007 20:44

Thanks
Yes i googled IBS (i know i shouldn't)and it does sound quite like it.

Sounds like undigested fat, possibly related to diet and intolerance to something. It could be IBS/ gallbladder problem.

Do you have other symptoms such as stomach cramps/indegestion?

AuntTulip · 24/09/2007 20:59

I just have the feeling that i need to poo,i suppose you would call it bowel cramps.

I don't eat the best of diets,i eat low fat food,no meat or fish or eggs etc.

High fibre diet then? Doesn't sound like gallstones. Go to GP like other posts say, he may refer you to a general surgeon for an endoscopy. This basically looks up your rear to see if there are any ulcer type things inside your gut. Have you had any weight loss which was not planned recently?

AuntTulip · 24/09/2007 21:21

No unplanned weight loss.

I get this quite often. I thought the mucus was in your bowels to lubricate it? Have no idea where I got this info. from and could have just made it up.I have IBS, btw.

tori32 · 25/09/2007 13:30

Forgot that some medication can affect the liver as a side effect/ as can too much alcohol. Liver breaks down fat so if the liver is not functioning well you may get more fat being passed through the gut rather than being broken down and stored. Gp would be able to do function tests ( blood test). These are all worst case scenario though. I say just go and get checked over and if possible take a stool sample to GP so he can see it. They can then look under the microscope and grow cultures to see if its anything obvious.

AuntTulip · 26/09/2007 21:05

My stomach feels like it is bubbling and churning, everything i eat makes me feel bloated and uncomfortable.
I went to my GP and he said it was Gastroenteritis and gave me "Bowel Antibiotics"
I didn't know that you could get Gastroenteritis without having Diahroahh(sp?)

At when I had the same prob my GP prescribed "colpermin" basically peppermint capsules but they did the trick.

You can get them in Tesco now too! Very gentle so try them but get to teh GP soon if you are worried and/or it doesn't settle.
