Anyone had recurring pain after a cystectomy?

4 1/2 years ago I had a cystectomy after a large dermoid cyst caused ovarian torsion. I have never been in so much pain, and that's including having gone through labour twice without drugs because I am ridiculously pathetic when it comes to needles.

Since then, I periodically get similar acute pains in the same area, so I'm the assuming the root is the same ovary. They tend not to last long - anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes - and aren't persistent, so I don't think I have another cyst. But they are incredibly sore and frequently take my breath away and bring me to my knees. Quite often this happens on the day before AF, but it's sometimes mid-cycle too so could be linked to ovulation.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Not necessarily a new cyst but it could be adhesions which the body forms after the surgery as it heals. If you only get pain before your periods then they are not serious enough to effect your life but still a nuisance none the less.

Thanks for replying. That's what I thought it might be - scarring or adhesions. Was just wondering whether anyone else had experienced something similar. It's a pain!
