Mooncup question - probably TMI - sorry.

I really want to use a mooncup but for the last 4-5 months I've been getting really bad thrush for up to a week before my period. As soon as I start to bleed it eases & is usually away by the 2nd day. Can I use a mooncup while I have thrush or am I likely to make infection worse?

(I had this same problem about 10 years ago & it lasted for over a year - my GP got fed up prescribing meds every month & swabs showed there was no underlying reason for it so he just said it was the way I was built & to get used to it).

I am guessing a mooncup is less likely to irritate thrush than a tampon.

Have you looked into dietary changes to help with the thrush?

My thrush seems to have got better with Mooncup, not gone completely, but not as frequent.

I get loads of thrush I have had all the GP stuff as well

tbh even though I have had a mooncup and they are better than tampons for making things worse I don't risk it anymore, I just use pads; cloth pads are more comfy I've found

I eventually went to a woman doctor and she prescribed me some timodene cream which I use now if it starts to feel a bit thrushy and that works better than anything else I've used. pessaries and meds did nothing

also I found this stuff really good you can get it in boots

you might already know all this tho

oh I've gone the dietary route as well the whole anti-candida diet god that was a faff (though I did lose masses of weight )

get some acidophilus tablets and eat a load of probiotic yogurt

don't eat masses of bread

Thanks everybody. I do eat loads of toast & sandwiches - it never occurred to me that diet might affect it. Will defo try all the tips 'cos it's driving me nuts right now - I can barely sit still

Think I am gonna bite the bullet & give the mooncup a go too - anyone know where's the cheapest place to get them?
