Could I have some reassurance please? Panicking.

I am recovering from early stage breast cancer, I had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy a couple of months ago, and I am just now on Tamoxifen for 5 years. Recently my vulva has felt drier and sore, so I asked my GP if they could prescribe local oestrogen cream and they said they would need to first check with my oncologist. This was two weeks ago.

Last Tuesday I had a smear, then also had a blood test last Thursday. I have just received an automated text from the surgery asking me to contact them via the Ask My GP app to 'discuss your test results'.

I am now worried sick that something was wrong with my smear or bloods. I only had them done a few days ago, would they have found something nasty so fast? I am panicking like mad.

Or it could be them just asking me to contact them because they have heard back from my oncologist re: the local oestrogen cream? But their automated text specifically said 'discuss your test result'.

I have messaged them back asking them to contact me asap, so I'm now just waiting here and worried sick. I can't face another health scare so soon, I really can't.

I have no advice, I’ve been in exactly the same position receiving a call regarding my results. I’ll sit and wait with you and hold your hand. Waiting for test results is worse than actually receiving a diagnosis. X x

Highly unlikely to be the smear - they take months to get the results at my surgery.

But GPs do get blood results the same day you have the blood taken, so it’s more likely to be something flagged up there.

It must be such a worry for you after what you've been through, but it could easily be something completely unrelated, I had a phone call from my new GP a couple of days after having blood tests and I freaked out, but it was just I had low iron levels and needed a prescription. I hope you get some news soon

I haven't been through what you have but I have bpd and awful health anxiety. Three times I was told to call the surgery for irregular blood tests. Twice it was low vitamin d and the third the receptionist gave me advice she should not have and the information she gave me was wrong

Good news! My smear was normal but the bloods show I have raised testosterone which concerned my GP. Well yes it will be bloody raised because I use Testogel every day and have done for over four bloody years! So my GP just replied 'Didn't realise, that's fine then'. Honestly if he'd bothered to read my bloody notes before scaring the shit out of me Angry
