Does this sound like a migraine?

When I was on the train on the way home this evening I suddenly got what seemed to be a glaring light in one of my eyes (like I'd been staring at a light). I couldn't see well enough to read. After about 15 minutes that eye went blurred. From an hour or 2 later I have got a headache - but not a really really awful one.

I haven't had a migraine before, so don't know what one is like, But am also pregnant so slightly concerned about pre-eclampsia. HOwever, I'm only 12 weeks, have never suffered from this in other pregnancies, and have no swelling etc.
If it is a migraine, is it common for these to start in pregnancy?

Thanks!

hi - i've had migraines since i was little and would generally say if the headache was not very bad, it is probably not a migraine. it usually makes you feel like you have to lie down right now it hurts so much and you often feel sick/are sick too.
BUT it takes everyone in different ways and it is also possible tho rare to have purely visual migraines where your vision just goes funny and you dont get the headache (i have had one or two of these).
agree with armadillo get it checked out by your GP or your midwife. also maybe worth appointment with your optician, there are various things that can be confused with a migraine aura. if you had a long day/were staring at a computer screen a lot/reading in bad light on the train etc might easily just be eyestrain.
too early to be pre-eclampsia i think (i had high blood pressure scare in early preg and was told pre-eclampsia doesnt really set in til after 20 weeks).
im sure you will be fine so dont worry! some people do suddenly get it in pregnancy and they usually go after you've had the baby - i was the other way round, have migraines all my life and then didnt get any while pregnant! almost enough to make me consider another baby
