and would really value any input from anyone who might be able to suggest what's going on! I started a thread a while ago about it but can't find it so forgive me for starting a new one.

I have been as regular as clockwork for the last five years or so, since my periods came back after having dd - but six months ago they started to go a bit haywire. My cycles over the last six months have been anything between 22 and 42 days, and bleeding has lasted for between 8 and 16 days.

But this one is just going on and on, this is the 28th day of heavy bleeding and it is showing absolutely no signs of stopping.

I had a GP's appointment booked for tomorrow but they cancelled it and I have to wait Friday next week before I can see the GP - so if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, to save myself worrying myself stupid, I would be really glad to hear them!

It's getting to be a right bloody nuisance.

How is it today WWB? Did you get your iron supplement? x

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 09:59

Sorry, I missed this yesterday.

If anything it's worse - it's even heavier and full of dark clots.

I got some Spatone yesterday so hopefully that will help!

Celia, I hope you get on OK on Friday; will be thinking of you.

WWB - hope you get some results from the doctor.

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 10:21

Thanks, Jackie.

The longer this drags on for, the more worried I'm getting.

you could phone nhs direct today - they may be able to give you an idea if it is ok to wait til your appt friday or if you need to see a gynae or consultant at a and 3 earlier than that

LadyofWaffle · 19/09/2007 14:38

Can you get an emergency appointment for today? Or a GUM walk in clinic?

WigWamBam · 19/09/2007 15:02

It's only two days until I see the GP, it'll be OK. Just feeling a bit wobbly about it now, that's all.

Thank you!

The GP reckons it's most likely to be fibroids, but the bleeding has to stop before I can have it checked out. He's given me some tablets to stop the bleeding, and made me an appointment to see someone else at the surgery in ten days - one of the GPs is apparently also a consultant at the Women's Hospital and she specialises in this kind of thing. I also have to get some blood tests done, and have a smear just to be on the safe side.

How did you get on, Celia2?

WigWamBam it's good you are getting it sorted and you have a knowledgeable dr. Good luck.

TigerFeet · 21/09/2007 10:27

Glad it went well... what a stroke of luck re. the other GP/specialist

Bet you're looking forward to getting that bleeding stopped!

So what happens next if it is fibroids (no experience of this at all)?

WigWamBam · 21/09/2007 10:44

It depends on where they are and how big. They can be anywhere from The other doctor will do an examination and may need to refer me for scans and/or biopsies - it could then be anything from being fitted with a hormonal coil to surgery - either to remove the fibroids or a hysterectomy (but he thinks that's unlikely).

Am really looking forward to the bleeding stopping!!

all sounds very good - before your next appt you could read up on endometriosis just so you can ask all the right questions and move things along quickly

LadyOfWaffle · 21/09/2007 13:59

Glad it's getting sorted {{hugs}} I think they may do a laparoscopy for fibroids? I am not sure, but am sure they looked for them when I had one.
