Rang GP for some medication.

GP said she would look into it but no guarantees with times due to everything going on.

Dr Felix online will happily prescribe.

Has anyone used this?

Medication is Metformin. Have PCOS and TTC

Not sure that's going to be possible, @2007Millie. Metformin isn't licensed for PCOS, so it needs a doctor to make a decision to prescribe it and accept liability as the manufacturer isn't legally liable for any harm.

I doubt whether an online pharmacy will dispense it for PCOS without a prescription. It might be different if you were taking it for diabetes. I don't really understand how online pharmacies are supposed to check that someone ordering a drug actually has the condition they say they have.

Online pharmacies will prescribe all sorts and frequently it’s cheaper than a prescription. I don’t know how Metformin can help PCOS but I have a relative who is on it for Diabetes Type 2 and can confirm that it can have some pretty unpleasant side effects. There is lots of information online about the drug and although it’s prescription it’s not like it’s an addictive opioid.

@SirTobyBelch

Definitely is as already received.

It's not predominantly made for PCOS but is regularly prescribed to those who have it to help with the symptoms which are almost identical to diabetes

Online pharmacies often have doctors checking the info and prescribing so it's entirely possible, although you'll obviously have to pay. They're generally fully regulated so there's nothing 'dodgy' going on.

I've not used that particular pharmacy but I've used Lloyds online service for cystitis antibiotics and similar before.

@2007Millie - I didn't say it's not used for PCOS. I know it is. I said it's not licensed for use in PCOS. If a drug isn't licensed for a particular use, the person prescribing it takes on additional responsibility because the patient can't pursue the manufacturer for damages if she/he is harmed by the drug (as the manufacturer hasn't applied for authorization for use of the drug for that condition or made any claim that it is safe & effective for it).

I've used Dr Felix before for antiobiotics for a UTI. I had no issues or problems.
