DD1 has recently developed a lot of acne looking spots around her mouth. What can I do to get rid of it and also does anyone know what it could be?

At that age, worth having a chat with your pharmacist in the first instance, who will advise whether they think you need to see a GP. It's highly unlikely to be anything serious, stick some sudocrem or similar on it in the meantime, but I would also get some professional input if it was mine.

Are you sure it's not impetigo?

lilolilmanchester · 16/09/2007 22:21

that was one of my thoughts too, ggirl. I think it's important to get a professional diagnosis, hence suggesting seeing a pharmacist who will recognise most common skin complaints, such as impetigo.

pennies-impetigo is really contagious so be careful with towels etc. in case it is.

Could she have got impetigo from a drinking fountain?
Or an allergic rash, maybe for ggirl rash?
Cortosone on an allergic rash should, just a little a couple times a day.I`m not a doctor.

if not impetigo, possibly excema from change to colder weather/heated nursery? in which case, e45 type cream might help

It's not impetigo - I did a search on that last night and it looks too mild, more like a dribble rash than anything else I suppose. It does not seem to bother her at all, so no apparent itching or soreness. I've been putting Savlon on it and seems to get better only to soon re-appear.

Good tip re. pharmacist - will def do that.
