Is it just me or is anyone else finding they have a really bad memory?

Since having kids my memory, especially for names is appalling. Any tips for getting it back?

keep testing it - it does return

Lol...I have felt this too, teadrinker. Always had quite good memory for facts/figures etc (probably thanks to years of studying Latin and Greek - all those poems, law speeches, battle stories etc to learn), but noticed a big change after son one was born (and you can imagine what it is like now after son three!).

Agree with gothicmama though, I am 'exercising' the old grey matter a bit more now (ie spending time on parenting sites and surfing the web...lol) and think this is helping.

Good luck in your quest.

I can't remember...

I used to be able to remember everything, until dd came along. Now I have been known to forget my own phone number.
gothicmama is right, keep testing it,I have found that if you don't use it you lose it.

Mine was so bad that I asked my GP about it & he said that basically it was because I was the mother of a small child & it happened to everyone.

my kids call me nappy brain!!!! its worse after childbirth but does get better! I have been known to put the butter in the dishwasher and all sorts of other bizzarre things, even forget my sentences half way through at times i remember saying after my first ds1 that i gave birth to my brains as well as my baby

dp gets really annoyed with me coz, I call everything "thingey", coz I just can't remeber the name of things, all the time

doziduck · 08/10/2004 21:10

I have the same problem
my kids are 8 and 5 so i would have thought i would be o.k by now. I seem to be getting worse really. My friend asked me what we had had for tea and i just COULD NOT remember! I had cooked it and ate it an hour before, how bad is that!

Another one here with memory loss. I also have a particular problem with names, (even just nouns a lot of the time). I go to a pub quiz once a week, but am finding it increasingly pointless for obvious reasons. Scary.
